Summer Program

Welcome to our Summer 2019 Camp

StriderWhen you hear the word “summer,” what do you think of?  Sunshine? Adventure? Travel? Well this summer your child will be enjoying all of the above!  Throughout the summer at Children’s House Preschool, we will be traveling to countries all over the globe.  On Mondays we will board our “plane” and travel to a new country. Throughout the week we will explore the language, music, art and other aspects of that country’s culture.  There is a lot we can all learn about ourselves and others through travel!

Each child will receive their own passport book that will be stamped whenever they visit a new country.  Since we will be spending much of our time enjoying the summer outdoors, we will go on field trips to the local library and visit parks where we can read books and play customary games from the countries we are visiting.  When it’s time to be indoors, we will do art activities that correlate with that country such as painting ceilings like Michelangelo or recreating sculptures of Greek statues. These will be souvenirs the children can take home to remember their trips.

We’d love to have families share aspects of their own culture to spark the children’s interests and continue to develop home/school connections. Specific plans are still in the works for this program, so please let us know if there is any specific country you’d like to have your child explore. Justine and Ellie are looking forward to all the traveling we’ll be doing this summer with your children.  Adventure awaits!

The camp is open to children from 3 – 6 yrs old (and older alumni). The summer is different from our regular school year with both schedule and activities. We will be visiting our garden at the Growing Gardens site, growing food at the school, going to the museum and library, going on hikes, exploring creeks, water play, and spending lots of time discovering the neighborhood on Strider bikes.  We will also be having indoor activities with recycled art, singing and dancing, story act outs, and big block building.

We have a limit on the number of children we can accept, so to ensure that your schedule is available, we recommend booking as early as possible.  For children who have an IEP, please contact the school before enrolling your child.  We are limited with the number of children with special needs that we can accommodate, and we do require that children are capable of taking public transport, going on local field trips on bikes, Striders, tricycles, or scooters.  If your family has not participated in Children’s House Preschool, we ask that parents come to the school for a tour and for us to meet your child.
