Squaffles

One of the children’s favorite snacks is fresh homemade squash waffles or Squaffles as they are known to us.  The squash was a winter squash that we grew last season in our Community Garden, and cooked and pureed with the children.  We are fortunate to have a Breville Waffle maker which does a fantastic job every time.

Apple Pies

In the garden we discovered hundreds of mini apples that had been knocked off from a recent storm covering our playground.  It was time for the children to take lead in the “kitchen” and start making apple pies, muffins, and cakes.  The largest cake got the biggest decoration, a sprig with the apple still attached.
